FOX will do away with its unscripted series "The Casino" in August by running new episodes twice a week.

The Mark Burnett-produced series, which follows the new owners and selected employees of the Golden Nugget hotel-casino in Las Vegas, is unlikely to return to the network after drawing mediocre ratings this summer. Some critics have also griped that some of the action feels staged.

The next episode of "The Casino" will air Monday (Aug. 2), as scheduled. After taking the following week off, it will air at 9 p.m. ET Sundays and Mondays, beginning Sunday, Aug. 15. The finale is set for Sunday, Aug. 29.

The twice-a-week airings of the show will have to compete with the Olympics, which air on NBC and will likely dominate the ratings from Aug. 13-29. Several of FOX's other summer series, including "North Shore" and "Method & Red," are getting a break during the Games and will return in early September.
